SafePlay Ancillary Services

To offer a complete playground service SafePlay provides the following associated services:

Site Preparation and Playground Edging
When installing playground equipment we are often asked to prepare the site for the playground equipment and provide suitable edging to contain the playground safety undersurfacing. The playground edging may be above ground or in ground and is generally constructed from timber, continuous concrete kerbing, rubber and recycled plastic.

All timber edging is free from splits, twisting and warping and has all exposed edges bevelled to remove sharp edges. Treated Pine is rough sawn pressure preservative type.

Playground Under-Surfacing Materials
Falls onto hard surfaces constitute the largest single cause of injury in playgrounds. Concrete, brick, stone, exposed concrete footings, timber, bare earth and grass are not suitable surfaces within the safety fall zone of equipment.

SafePlay can provide impact-absorbing surfaces such as Pine Mulch, Pine Bark and systhetic surfaces. All impact-absorbing surfaces are tested in accordance with AS 4422 for use in playgrounds. The loose type materials should be retained by a concrete or timber border and be well maintained.

Rubber Safety Surfaces
Rubber safety surfaces are very effective in absorbing impact and reducing slipping in playgrounds and recreational areas. The wet pour rubber system provides a tailor made size and shape that will adhere to most types of surfaces and equipment. Under playground areas the rubber surface is laid to allow for various safe fall heights to conform to AS 4422.

Rubberised safety Slide Mats and Swing Mats can also be used at the base of swings, exit of slides and other high wear areas. The mats are fixed in place on a concrete pad or poured on site.

Shade Structures

Providers of public play space areas and leisure facilities are becoming more aware of the need to give users a means of sun protection by the installation of shade structures.  Shade offers more protection for the very young and reduces the risk of sunburn.  In addition, play equipment within the shaded space is protected from the affects of UV rays and hail.

Tension membrane structures are spectacular looking shade structures that can be used to create shade and enhance the aesthetics of an outdoor area.  SafePlay can offer a range of Hip & Ridge - Framed Structures and Shade Sails.  The framed structures are free-standing steel units, generally square or rectangular. Larger structures can be created by connecting multiple structures together.  Shade Structures offer high shade economy over playgrounds.  Shade Sails are designed to suit specific needs and typically comprise shade cloth stretched between free-standing anchor points.
