School playgrounds need to not only provide a diverse range of physical play opportunities they also need to provide places where children can engage in social play or just simply sit and chat.

They also need to be designed to cater for high numbers of users in a short amount of time. Traffic flow and play-paths over, through and around the equipment must be considered and catered for to ensure there are no areas of conflict or congestion.
