Common Questions about Combination Play Structures
What’s the difference between a deck and post structure and a tower?
Deck and post structures are the most common configuration: a connected series of platforms, slides, and activity panels at different deck heights. Towers are larger, multi-level structures, mostly with greater height and more complex play circuits. Towers work well as landmark pieces in larger parks and reserves; deck and post systems are the go-to for most school and smaller community park applications.
How do we choose the right structure for our site?
We can help! We’ll work with you, starting with the practical constraints – available footprint, fall zone requirements, budget and surfacing etc – then work through the rest of the brief: who will use the space, what age range, what level of physical challenge is appropriate, and what the options might be within the budget. From there we develop a configuration and get your feedback before next steps.
Can these structures be customised: colours, themes, or specific activity elements?
Yes. Most structures in our range offer significant customisation across colour, configuration, and activity elements. Themed environments – nature, adventure, nautical, and others – are also available through several of our supplier partners. Our in-house design team will work with you to make sure the result feels intentional and suits your project perfectly, not like a catalogue selection.
What Australian Standards apply to combination play structures?
All combination play structures we supply comply with AS 4685, the Australian Standard for playground equipment safety. This covers structural integrity, fall height, entrapment hazards, and surfacing requirements. We provide full compliance documentation as standard.
How long does a combination play structure take to supply and install?
Lead times vary by supplier and configuration. Locally manufactured structures from our Australian range can move faster than imported product, but for landmark projects, our international partnerships provide the most striking options. Most projects from confirmed order to completed install run ten to sixteen weeks (can be longer for international products). We’ll give you an accurate timeline at the quotation stage and build in realistic scheduling from the start.
What maintenance does a combination play structure require?
Regular visual inspections – ideally monthly for schools and councils – are required to meet Australian Standards obligations. We offer inspection and condition reports, maintenance and a repair services. Catching minor issues early is always cheaper than dealing with structural wear later.
