Project Overview

Knox Gardens Primary School’s inclusive playground is a shining example of how thoughtful design can create a space that welcomes and engages every child. After receiving a VSBA Inclusive Schools Grant, the school collaborated with Safe Play Australia and City Living Property Services to bring their vision to life. Completed in late 2022, this vibrant playground blends accessibility, creativity, and sensory play in a way that meets the needs of all students.

At the heart of the playground is a rainbow-colored essentials unit, featuring fully accessible ramps that lead to exciting elements like a spiral climber and a double wave slide. Beneath the slide, a shopfront counter invites imaginative play. Adjacent to the unit, a monkey bar track and roman triangles provide older students with physical challenges, promoting fitness and coordination.

The playground also includes sensory-rich features, with synthetic grass patches hosting musical pipes and drums that encourage exploration and creative expression. At the far end, talk tubes provide a fun and interactive way for children to communicate across distances, fulfilling one of the school’s key requests for sensory elements.

Set on a combination of durable rubber surfacing and synthetic grass, the playground ensures safety and accessibility for all abilities. As the trusted playground equipment suppliers and installers of this project, we’re proud to have delivered a space that embodies inclusivity and fosters play, creativity, and connection for the Knox Gardens Primary School community.
