Project Overview
Mount Evelyn Primary School in Yarra Ranges Shire Council has a gorgeous nature backdrop that makes it an ideal location for outdoor activities and play. To take advantage of this beautiful setting, the school recently had a fun playground unit designed and installed, complete with a variety of climbing elements. The playground uses a combination of lime green posts, orange steel, and blue rope.
One of the standout features of the playground is the 3P Cube, which provides a great place for kids to climb, sit, and hang out on top. The playground also includes a variety of other climbing options such as a rock wall, spider net, ladder climber, web wall, and tube net. These climbing elements are great for developing kids’ motor skills and upper body strength. The playground provides an opportunity for kids to experience the beauty of nature and develop a healthy lifestyle.
Climbing and other activities that involve movement and balance can be beneficial for developing the vestibular and proprioceptive senses. The vestibular system, located in the inner ear, helps us to maintain balance and spatial orientation. The proprioceptive system, located in the muscles and joints, helps us to sense the position and movement of our body in space.
Activities that challenge the vestibular and proprioceptive systems, such as climbing, can help to improve balance, coordination, and body awareness. The playground unit installed in Mount Evelyn Primary School provides a great opportunity for children to challenge and develop these senses through climbing activities.
It’s also worth mentioning that climbing and other similar activities can also be beneficial for children’s self-esteem and confidence, as they learn to overcome challenges and achieve new goals.
