Local Council Playgrounds: for communities that love where they live.

A great local council playground brings people together, activates a space, and gives the community something to be proud of.
Safe Play Australia has over 30 years’ experience working with local councils across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. We understand the pressures procurement managers face: tight budgets, compliance obligations, community expectations – you need a supplier who makes the process straightforward rather than complicated. From first conversation to final handover, we handle the detail so you can focus on a great outcome.

Equipment Built for Australian Public Spaces
Your playground investment should be expected to keep looking good. Our playgrounds are built to last: durable, low-maintenance and designed for Australian conditions.
End-to-End Project Management
One point of contact from consultation through to installation and after-sales. We manage compliance, Australian Standards certification, staging, and site coordination — so your internal resources stay focused on governance, not logistics.
Built for Communities
Council playgrounds work hard. They’re used by children of all ages and abilities, in all weather, every day of the year. We design and specify with that in mind: durable structures, low-maintenance surfacing, and equipment selected for longevity in Australian conditions. What looks good at handover should still look good at year five and beyond.

Here’s what the councils that trust us have to say
“Safe Play provided a friendly and professional service to deliver Hepburn Shire’s first outdoor adult fitness space in Creswick. We were particularly pleased with the quick turnaround to undertake a minor adjustment of the equipment that was requested by our community at the launch of the space. The Creswick Outdoor Adult Fitness Space is proving to be a great community asset in providing active health and wellbeing opportunities for our community.”
“The designs prepared by Safe Play in our playground consultation program proved to be very popular with the Cardinia Shire community, with 3/5 of our play space projects being awarded to them. They were bright, appealed to a wide range of ages and included unique pieces not currently provided in our existing play spaces.”
Working with Safe Play – Common Questions
How does the quotation process work for councils?
We can respond to formal tender requirements or provide a direct quote — whichever your procurement process calls for. We’ll ask the right questions upfront to make sure the proposal is accurate and relevant, and we turn around revisions quickly if the scope or budget shifts.
What compliance documentation do you provide?
Everything needed for procurement sign-off and ongoing obligations: AS 4685 playground equipment safety certification, AS/NZS 4422 impact attenuation documentation for surfacing, and any product-specific compliance paperwork. We provide this as standard, not on request.
How do you approach community consultation?
We can support consultation processes at whatever level your council requires, from simple community feedback tools through to on-site engagement sessions with local families and children. Getting the community’s input early leads to better outcomes and stronger buy-in at opening.
Can you work within a staged budget or multi-year delivery plan?
Yes. We regularly work with councils on staged approaches — delivering the highest-priority elements first, with a design that allows for future additions without starting from scratch. It’s a practical way to make the most of capital works budgets across multiple financial years.
How long does a typical typical council playground project take?
From first consultation to completed install, most council projects run over three to five months depending on scope and site conditions. We’ll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you informed at every stage.
What ongoing support do you provide after installation?
We provide warranties on all equipment and surfacing, and offer ongoing maintenance, inspection, and repair services. We can support your compliance obligations around annual inspections, condition reports, and remediation.
